Origin
Toyota Supra Mk4 (chassis JZA80 / A80) launched in 1993 as the fourth-generation Supra. Its legend comes from the 2JZ-GTE engine — 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six, factory-rated at 280 hp but engineered with such overbuilt internals that 1000+ hp without a rebuild is routine in tuning circles.
The Mk4 Supra became a global cultural icon thanks to Paul Walker's orange car in The Fast and the Furious (2001). It also became a JDM gold standard alongside the R34 GT-R and RX-7 FD.
Specs & Codename
In the Forza Horizon Series
The Supra A80 has been an S1 / S2 class JDM mainstay every Forza generation. FH6 includes:
- 1998 Toyota Supra RZ (standard)
- Forza Edition Supra (series-exclusive tune)
- Hoonigan Twerk Stallion (Daniel Suarez modified version) — DLC unlock
Initial PI sits around A class (700). The Supra is veterans' favorite drag racer in Forza — X-class builds achieve 0-100 in under 2.0 seconds.
Tuning Recommendations
- Drag: S2 class + advanced turbo + advanced ECU + long gearing. Forza's drag racing king.
- Drift: S1 class + high-power turbo + LSD + wider rear tires. Top drift score performer.
- Touge: S1 class + medium power + soft tires. But the Supra is heavier than the GT-R, so hairpins are not its strength.
The Supra A80 is heavier than the R34 GT-R (~1500 kg), giving it more cornering inertia. New players should master the GT-R first before moving to the Supra.
Player Lore
- "Fast & Furious car" — Paul Walker's orange Mk4 in the 2001 film made this car a global generation-definer.
- "2JZ faith" — 2JZ-GTE is one of tuning culture's greatest engine devotions.
- "New Supra controversy" — The 2019 GR Supra (A90), Toyota-BMW co-developed with BMW's B58 engine, is dismissed by purists as "not a real Supra."
- Real-world prices — 2020s used A80 prices have crossed $150,000 USD, more than triple their original new sticker.
