Compatibility Overview
Forza Horizon 6 is the first Forza series game with native handheld support. Playground Games and Microsoft jointly optimized the engine to ensure smooth performance on Steam Deck and ROG Xbox Ally:
- Steam Deck (both OLED and LCD) — native 60 FPS at 720p / 1080p; battery life 2.5-3 hours.
- ROG Xbox Ally (Xbox-branded ROG Ally) — native 60 FPS at 1080p with FSR 3.1 enabled; battery life 2-2.5 hours.
- Other Windows handhelds (Lenovo Legion Go, MSI Claw) — compatible but require manual settings.

ROG Xbox Ally Settings
The ROG Xbox Ally is the ASUS-Xbox co-branded handheld with Xbox Experience pre-installed — launching FH6 is simpler than on a regular PC. Recommended settings:
- Performance mode: Turbo (25W TDP)
- Resolution: 1920×1080 (native)
- Graphics preset: High, with selected settings dropped to Medium (clouds, reflections)
- FSR 3.1: Performance mode
- Frame rate cap: 60
Battery Life Tests
FH6 is a graphically demanding open-world title; battery drain is significant:
- Steam Deck OLED: ~2 hr 45 min (Medium settings)
- Steam Deck LCD: ~1 hr 50 min
- ROG Xbox Ally Turbo mode: ~2 hr
- ROG Xbox Ally Silent mode: ~4 hr (but framerate drops to 30)
FH6 takes 160GB of disk space. Steam Deck 256GB versions barely fit it — 512GB or 1TB versions strongly recommended.
External Display Setup
Handheld + USB-C dock + 4K display + Xbox controller = temporary console experience. In dock mode, the Steam Deck can push FH6 to 1080p/60 with High preset — a budget-friendly alternative to buying a console.
