Real-World History
Toyota built the ST205 Celica GT-Four to homologate the Carlos Sainz Edition for World Rally Championship competition in 1994. The car combined a 252-horsepower 3S-GTE turbocharged engine with permanent all-wheel drive, anti-lag turbo system, and a wide-track suspension geometry derived from the rally team. Production was limited to roughly 2,500 examples worldwide, with the European-market Carlos Sainz Edition being the most desirable variant.
Specifications
ST205 Forza Horizon car chassis details: code ST205; class at stock tune B; category Modern Sports; tags include JDM, rally, wrc, starter.
In the Forza Horizon Series
The ST205 has appeared sporadically across Forza titles, with its most prominent role coming in Horizon 6 as one of the three official starter vehicles. The starter trim approximates the rally homologation specification rather than the comfort-focused road version, giving new players an immediate taste of all-wheel-drive turbo performance.
The ST205 Forza Horizon car appears across 4 entries: FH3, FH4, FH5, FH6. As a ST205 Forza Horizon car entry, it sits in the B-class bracket at stock tune.
Tuning Notes
The all-wheel-drive layout is the chassis's defining feature — preserve it for circuit and rally builds. Adding power up to 350 horsepower works well; beyond that, the front transaxle becomes a weak point. For Cross Country events, fit off-road tires and raised suspension; the rally heritage shines on dirt stages. Stick with the original turbo size for street builds to maintain throttle response.
For the ST205 Forza Horizon car, the most successful community blueprints share a few common adjustments: balanced aero, tire compound matched to event surface, and gearing tuned for the specific Festival Playlist scenario rather than maximum top speed. The ST205 Forza Horizon car responds best when the tuner respects the chassis's inherent character rather than trying to mask it with extreme settings.
Trivia & Lore
The ST205 is the final Celica generation to use the GT-Four name; subsequent models switched to front-drive only. Toyota actually withdrew from WRC competition partway through 1995 after the team was caught using illegal turbo restrictors during the homologation process.
