Real-World History

Honda introduced the original NSX in 1990 after years of development with input from Formula One driver Ayrton Senna, who tested the prototype at Suzuka and Nürburgring. The car used the world's first all-aluminum monocoque body in a production vehicle, paired with a mid-mounted 3.0-liter V6 producing 270 horsepower at 7,300 rpm. Honda built the NSX to deliver supercar performance with daily-driver reliability — a combination Ferrari and Lamborghini didn't fully match for another decade.

In the Forza Horizon Series

The NSX has appeared in every numbered Horizon entry since the original Colorado game. Engine sound improvements between generations are particularly notable on this car because of its high-revving naturally-aspirated VTEC character. Horizon 6 also includes the second-generation hybrid 2017 Acura NSX as a separate entry for players wanting to compare the analog and modern interpretations side by side.

The NA1 Forza Horizon car appears across 6 entries: FH1, FH2, FH3, FH4, FH5, FH6. As a NA1 Forza Horizon car entry, it sits in the A-class bracket at stock tune.

Tuning Notes

The chassis is exceptional in stock form — the most rewarding builds focus on tire and suspension upgrades rather than power. Adding a turbocharger pushes the car into S1 territory but loses some of its corner-carving character. For circuit racing, fit a moderate aero package and stiffen the suspension; for touge events, leave the stock springs and add R-compound tires. The mid-engine layout makes the car forgiving in corners but prone to snap-oversteer if power is added without weight redistribution.

For the NA1 Forza Horizon car, the most successful community blueprints share a few common adjustments: balanced aero, tire compound matched to event surface, and gearing tuned for the specific Festival Playlist scenario rather than maximum top speed. The NA1 Forza Horizon car responds best when the tuner respects the chassis's inherent character rather than trying to mask it with extreme settings.

Trivia & Lore

Production of the original NSX ran from 1990 to 2005, with multiple updates including fixed headlamps replacing the pop-ups in 2002. Ayrton Senna's name was attached to a special trim level marketed in select markets, and his actual development feedback led to a 50-percent stiffer chassis than the original engineering target.
