Real-World History

Honda launched the Beat in 1991 as one of the first Kei-class roadsters under Japan's revised regulations that loosened sports-car restrictions. The car ran a 656cc three-cylinder engine producing the regulatory maximum 63 horsepower, mounted mid-ship behind the cockpit. Honda built the Beat with help from Pininfarina styling input, and only 33,892 examples were produced between 1991 and 1996.

PP1 Forza Horizon car chassis details: code PP1; class at stock tune D; category Kei Cars; tags include kei, mid-engine, convertible.

In the Forza Horizon Series

The Beat first appeared in Forza Horizon 4 and continued into Horizon 5 and 6. The car represents the Kei-class category alongside other Japanese microcars like the Autozam AZ-1 and Suzuki Cappuccino, and has become a cult-favorite among Festival Playlist players seeking unconventional builds.

The PP1 Forza Horizon car appears across 3 entries: FH4, FH5, FH6. As a PP1 Forza Horizon car entry, it sits in the D-class bracket at stock tune.

Tuning Notes

The chassis is too underpowered to compete in standard Festival Playlist events without significant tuning, but the upgrade path is genuinely interesting — players have built turbocharged Beats producing over 200 horsepower from the original engine. For events with PI restrictions, the lightweight chassis and small footprint allow surprising lap times against larger sports cars on tight courses.

For the PP1 Forza Horizon car, the most successful community blueprints share a few common adjustments: balanced aero, tire compound matched to event surface, and gearing tuned for the specific Festival Playlist scenario rather than maximum top speed. The PP1 Forza Horizon car responds best when the tuner respects the chassis's inherent character rather than trying to mask it with extreme settings.

Trivia & Lore

Honda discontinued the Beat in 1996 after the founder Soichiro Honda's death; the Honda S660 from 2015 was widely considered its spiritual successor before that car was also discontinued in 2022.
